There have been many cases (confirmed or very likely to be confirmed) of measles in Surrey in 2006.
The key message is that everybody (particularly people born after 1969, who are less likely to have had measles, and have natural immunity) should have two doses of MMR.
| The first dose should be given after the age of one year; | |
| The second dose should be given after the age of 18 months; and | |
| The doses must be separated by an interval of at least four weeks. | |
| Additional doses may be offered in certain circumstances. |
See Control of measles in the event of an outbreak for guidance for healthcare staff on the public health management of possible cases; and MMR Questions and Answers for information (primarily intended for primary health care staff) on MMR vaccination.
